Sir Robert & Lady Jamima Officer & Relatives

 

Sir Robert Officer was born Montrose, Kincardinshire, Scotland in 3rd October, 1800, the second son of six children of Robert Officer (1760-1802), Jacksbank, Scotland and Isabella Kerr.  He obtained his degree in medicine in 1821 and left England aboard the "Castle Forbes" arriving Hobart Town 1st March, 1822.  In St. David's Chuch, Hobart Town on 25th October, 1823 he married Jamima Patterson, third daughter of nine children of Myles Patterson (born 24th February, 1772, baptised 3rd March, 1792 at Cannongate Edinburgh and died 13th February, 1828) and Katherine Hunter (born c1774 at Collander House, Edinburgh and died 14th September, 1852).  Jamima was born on 26th October, 1802 in Edinburgh and died on 28th September, 1881 at Hallgreen.  Sir Robert and Lady Jamima had 14 children.  He died at New Norfolk, Tasmania on 8 July, 1879 and is buried at Cornelian Bay Cemetery, Hobart.  Click HERE to see the Gallery of Sir Robert's children and their families.
